 RANGLA PUNJAB 2001": Annual Vaisakhi Cultural Program
You and your family are invited to "Rangla Punjab '2001" on Saturday, April
14, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. at Gateway Theatre, 5216 Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL.
Tickets are $12, $25 each. Children under 10 are free. Reserved seating and
front rows $50, $100/VIP tickets are also available. Gates open at 5:00 p.m.
Over 2000 are expected to attend. Last year it was a sold-out show. Seats are
limited so advance purchase is recommended. Tickets are on sale now at many

PARKING: PCS has made special arrangements with Gateway Theater to acquire
adjoining Parking Lots in addition to Gateway theatre parking lot, e.g.
Jefferson Medical & Dental bldg. Parking Lot, Northwest Business College
Parking Lot, Old Parking lot for Jefferson Bank. Other parking lots are also
being contacted. "Rangla Punjab Parking allowed" Signs will be placed at all
eligible lots. Also there is plenty of street parking available on Lawrence
and Milwaukee streets.

"Rangla Punjab" has been the authentic, traditional, state of the art Punjabi
Cultural variety annual event in the Chicagoland area since last two decades.
It is to preserve and promote Punjabi language, cultural heritage and to
encourage and harness local Punjabi artists including youth. Click here:

donations made to PCS are tax deductible to the extent permitted by IRS.

PUNJABI PAGES 2001: PCS will release the second edition of its community
directory "Punjabi Pages" at "Rangla Punjab 2001" on April 14, 2001. The
directory will be distributed free of charge to the community members.
"Punjabi Pages", will include the addresses and phone numbers of the
community members of Midwest U.S.A., community businesses, government
resources, a list of community services providers, and other useful general
information.

Community members to be included in this directory are required to fill out a
short authorization form, at no charge.  The form is available from P.C.S.
via mail, e-mail, and fax. On line registration can be made at PCS web-site.
Previously authorized names from Punjabi Pages 1999 will reappear in Punjabi
Pages 2001 as they are, unless requested/revised otherwise. Businesses and
service providers can also advertise in "Punjabi Pages". Last date to
register is March 25, 2001.

P.C.S. SCHOLARSHIPS:  P. C. S. will award $500 scholarships to qualified High
School Seniors & college undergraduate Punjabi Students at "Rangla Punjab
2001". Deadline to apply is Sunday, March 25, 2001. Winners will be decided
by an independent council of judges. Scholarship fund sponsors will be

PUNJABI SPORTS FESTIVAL 2001:  PCS is planing to hold Punjabi Sports Festival
at an International level on Saturday, August 11, 2001. Teams are being
formed now. Interested players please give your names to P.C.S. Sports

P.C.S. NIGHT 2000: was held on November 4, 2000 at the elegant India House
Banquets featuring "Jazzy Bains & Group," a famous Punjabi music group from
England. Over 1,000 attended this extravagant event. See PCS news release.

ASIAN AMERICAN COALITION OF CHICAGO: annual dinner banquet was held on
January 27, 2001 at Hyatt Regency O'hare. PCS guests occupied four tables and
PCS youth team presented Bhangra item. See attached news release. Click here:

PCS YOUTH BHANGRA TEAMS:  We would like to thank PCS performing arts teams
"Punjabi Sher", "Punjabi Boys", "Preet Brothers", "UoC/PCS Team" who have
represented PCS at various American mainstream events throughout the year
2000-2001.

BOY SCOUTS: PCS Boy Scouts troop activitie are in full swing. Their weekly
meetings are at Palatine Gurdwara Sahib every Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.. Our
Cub Master is Sukhmel Singh Atwal. Committee chairman is Amarjit K. Atwal,
the Den Leader for ist grade is Neeru Kaur. For 2nd grade is Mohinderjit
Singh Saini  For third grade is Kiran Kaur Sandhu. Fourth & fifth grade Den
Leader is Mohinder Singh Kahlon. The Den leaders for 6, 7 & 8th grades are
Sukhmel & Amarjit Atwal. We encourage all community members to enroll their
Boys in this activity.  They have many organized activities to the enjoyment
of the boys and the parents. It teaches the children discipline while having
fun. Parents interested in enrolling their sons for grades 1-5, 6-8, 9-12,
please contact Amarjit K. Atwal at (847) 564-4735. This is to develop our
future generation to have leadership skills, be good citizens, have good
character, and be good neighbors. The boys will have camp outs, field trips
and will go to many sports games.

SENIOR'S TEA PARTY: PCS has taken the initiative to organize "Senior's Tea
Party." These meetings are for senior's social get-together just to talk,
share stories or simply play cards for entertainment over a cup of tea. PCS
has also taken senior's to Chicago Historical Society, Museum of Science &
Industry, Palatine Senior Center, and on a bus trip to Springfield. Senior's
health fair by Dr. Amarjit Singh, and a seminar on Arthritis was also given
by Jitender Kaur Singh. The future "SENIOR'S TEA PARTIES" are scheduled to be
held every Wednesday, 4-6pm at Palatine Gurdwara Sahib, 1280 Winnetka St.

KAVI DARBAR: Punjabi community of Chicago is hosting International Grand Kavi
Darbaar titled "Taj Poshi Di Rangeen Shaam " on May 27th at Indo American
Center starting at 3:00pm in honor of "Maharaja Ranjit Singh" 200th
Coronation Ceremony sponsored by Gurdwara Sahib of Chicago, Punjab Sweets and
Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago.  Tickets are $5 including dinner.
Children under 5 yrs admitted free. If anyone would like to participate

PALATINE WORLD's FAIR: will be held at Palatine Library on May 5th and 6th.
PCS performers will present world famous Bhangra.
